What's New in This Release

SCEP support with Tera2 Zero Clients

Deployment security can be increased through the inclusion of SCEP support with PCoIP Management Console. Tera2 PCoIP Zero Clients can be enrolled in SCEP through the software, integrating endpoint, group and SCEP management into a single system.

This features adds a CERTIFICATE section to the PCoIP Management Console for configuring certificate profiles and assigning them to endpoint groups. Certificate requests can be made through the Endpoints page, Endpoint Details (for individual devices), Schedules and as part of Auto Configuration.

Non-default Values

Non-default values in the CA Identifier configuration field requires Tera2 Zero Client firmware release 5.4.0 or higher.

Endpoint certificate overview on dashboard (Enterprise only)

The dashboard now contains an area that provides the status of endpoint certificates if the PCoIP Management Console is licensed for Enterprise Edition use. The section permits a quick assessment of endpoints with valid, or expired certificates, as well as certificates that are coming up to their expiration date. This addition to the dashboard simplifies certificate management on endpoint.

Skip Reboot (Enterprise only)

When selecting profile for the schedule type, the option will be available to skip the reboot. When the reboot is skipped it will halt the profile update at the point of the reboot. For example, after a firmware update, the profile settings will not get set. The device must be rebooted and the profile pushed again.

Schedule History page renders much faster in large deployments

The Schedule History page now renders much faster. This is particularly evident in large deployments that have many schedules and groups. To achieve this the GROUP column was removed from the page. To see which groups a schedule acted on, view its details using the Schedules tab.

Search box in group select dialogs

A search field is now present in group select dialog boxes to aid in finding specific groups when there are a large number present.

Remove certificates, USB rules and broker address caches from zero clients using profiles

Certificates installed, USB authorized and unauthorized rule,s and the VCS, PCoIP Connection Manager and Auto-Detect broker caches configured on a zero client can be removed from the zero client using a profile. In the profile editor, check the Set in Profile checkbox for the property to remove but do not upload any certificates or set any rules or broker cache entries. When the profile is applied the Management Console will remove these settings from the zero client.

Time zones updated

The IANA Time Zone Database used in the Management Console is updated to 2016j. This update includes Turkey's switch from EET/EEST (UTC+02/+03) to permanent UTC+03. However, when a Management Console user is configured for Europe/Instanbul (UTC+03) the web interface shows the local time for schedules and other events as EEST.

Memory allocation dynamically set based on total virtual appliance memory available

If the virtual appliance is modified to have more memory than the default, then the memory allocation for the Daemon, the Console process and other aspects of the system are dynamically allocated. The total available RAM less 4 GB is allocated to the Daemon heap. 2 GB is allocated to the Console process and the remaining 2 GB is allocated to all remaining services, including the database and web interface.

Event Log Viewer removed

The View Log button has been removed from the Endpoint Detail's page. To see a Tera2 Zero Client's event log use the Web Interface button to access the zero client's Administrative Web Interface.

EULA updated

The PCoIP Management Console EULA has been updated to issue 3. Please review the updated EULA prior to continuing to use the product.

Teradici is currently working on providing the official Amazon Machine Image (AMI) for use with Amazon Web Services. However, users are able evaluate Amazon EC2 installation by creating their own AMI through the use of AWS provided conversion tools or by other means. Teradici does not provide technical support for the PCoIP Management Console AMI produced through conversion tools, or on the conversion tools themselves. Please note, you may need to enable SSH in order to access the appliance for configuration. This can be done prior to conversion or after.

For information on configuring the console after conversion please review instructions from AWS: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/user-data.html

Known Issues

Migrations from releases prior to 2.5 may fail

Migrating PCoIP Management Console deployments to PCoIP Management Console 2.5.1 or 3.0.0 may fail with a corrupted database due to the database restore taking too long. This issue stems from a known issue (68605) in older releases (2.4 and earlier), which results in excessively large or corrupted database backups. (68452)

Workaround: See KB 1029 for instructions on cleaning the database prior to backup.

Exported Endpoint data always includes Certificate columns

Endpoint data exported from the endpoints page always include the "Certificate Rule", "Certificate Name", "Certificate Status", "Certificate Start Date" and "Certificate Expiry Date" columns, even when these columns are not shown on the endpoints page. (62474)

Endpoint page Last Polled column not sortable

The Last Polled column on the endpoints page cannot be sorted. While the ascending and descending sort icons appear the column order does not change. (62163)

Actions to a group do not apply to endpoints in sub-groups

Actions performed from the Endpoint page, such as Apply profile, when applied to a group do not get applied to endpoints in the sub-groups. (61743)

Workaround: Perform the action on each sub-group.

Web interface may fail to load when accessed by the FQDN

The Management Console's web interface may fail to load with a JavaScript error when the address used is a FQDN containing the word "console", such as console.company.local. (61464)

Workaround: Use the IP address or rename the MC VA so that the FQDN does not contain the word 'console'.

A Profile cannot be saved if the Broker Address Cache URL includes a port

If the Broker Address Cache under Session Connect Type is used in an endpoint profile and the URL has a port number, then the profile cannot be saved. (59455)

Web interface unavailable for a Management Console with DHCP assigned host name

Users are not able to log into the Management Console web interface when the DHCP server assigns a host name to the Management Console Virtual Appliance. The error shown on the login page is "Waiting for the server to start." (59280)

Workaround: Follow the steps described in knowledge base article [15134-2760|https://techsupport.teradici.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=15164&task=knowledge&questionID=2760&languageID=].

If a search has been performed on the endpoints page, the refresh button on the Endpoint page becomes greyed out and unusable after it has been used once. (56086)

Workaround: Clear the search prior to the next refresh usage.

Disabling individual schedule does not work if the user selects only the date without a start time

If the start date is set for a schedule, but the start time is not set, then a change to the 'Enable' function in the schedule edit or creation page may not be saved. (55912)

Workaround: Ensure your schedule has a start time in addition to a start date.

Incorrect count for additional schedules on dashboard

The 'more schedules' text in the dashboard section for upcoming schedules always states '(1) more schedules' regardless of how many schedules are upcoming but do not fit in the view. (55636)

DNS Name, IP Address, and Server URI profile fields do not display error during editing

If there is an entry error in the DNS Name, IP Address, or Server URI fields in a device profile, the PCoIP Management Console will not alert to that error at the time of entry. Any errors will be displayed on the profile after it has been saved. (55568)

Workaround: Save the profile, and review the profile to verify correctness.

Profile cannot be saved if the broker address is a FQDN including a port

If a broker address is entered as an FQDN, for example https://broker.domain.com, then it will fail input validation if a port is added to the address. (54569)

Workaround: Either use a standard port that does not need to be included, or use the IP address of the broker.

New features from latest PCoIP Management Console disappear when using FQDN instead of IP address

Some web browsers consider previous releases of PCoIP Management Console cache content as valid. Hence, features from the new version of PCoIP Management Console disappears when using FQDN instead of IP address. (51732)

Workaround: Clear the web browser's cache.

'Ungrouped' tabs display offline and out of session device statuses as blank

Devices that are displayed in the Ungrouped endpoints table will have their online or session status column data listed as blank if the device is offline and/or out of session. Both of these values should be displayed as false in those cases. (48320)

Profile applications applied from the Endpoints page is not recorded in the Schedule > History page

When applying a profile to a group from the Endpoints page, the application is not recorded in the Schedule > History page and the power reset assignment for the profile is in the 'Failed' state when it should be skipped. (48169)

Unable to delete endpoints when using a filter

The delete function does not work when a filter is applied to the endpoints table. (44508)

Workaround: Remove the filter, then find the device(s) to delete.

Endpoint always reboots after applying a profile

When a profile is applied to a zero client it always gets rebooted even when the values modified on the zero client do not require a reboot to take effect. (43903)

Exporting endpoints on Firefox downloads a file with unexpected filename and without '.csv' file extension

Exporting the endpoints on Firefox downloads a file with an unexpected filename and without '.csv' file extension. Following this, the 'Endpoints' page briefly displays a 'Server not responding' message and jumps to the dashboard. (43864)

Workaround: At the time of saving, rename the file.

Recurring schedules do not adjust for daylight savings changes

When time changes between daylight savings and standard time, recurring schedules are not updated to remain at the same hour of day. (43174)

Session filters return no results

Applying filters for Session Status 'In Session' or 'Out of Session' does not display devices in the endpoints table. (39456)

Deleting a group will silently delete auto-configuration rules

When a group is deleted, all auto-configuration rules assigned to that group will also be removed without any notification. (38229)

Enhanced logging mode cannot be disabled in version 2.0 and above

User cannot disable Enhanced logging mode on a zero client using a PCoIP Management Console profile. (37600)

Workaround: Consider setting the Enhanced mode to one that is not applicable to your environment, such as ONESIGN or UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS.

Endpoint naming using Group Naming does not work with auto configuration

To give zero clients with auto configuration a Primary Group Name and/or Deepest Sub-group Name, go to Settings > Naming and select moved between grouped and ungrouped rule in the Rename Endpoints when tab. (34756)

PCoIP Management Console does not check the value of device bandwidth setting

The PCoIP Management Console Profile editor does not enforce the requirement that Bandwidth Floor ≤ Bandwidth Target ≤ Bandwidth Limit. Profile content that does not meet this requirement will fail to apply to a zero client. (32527)

Workaround: Ensure that the profile content meets the requirements. Consider setting all three values in the profile to ensure this.

Schedule Start Date on Change Profile Confirm Window does not display correctly

In the Change Profile dialog accessed from the Endpoints page, the Schedule Start Date value appears as 'NaN-NaN-NaN 12: AM'. (32524)

Endpoint labels with underscore characters at the start or end are not displayed properly

Endpoints that have the underscore character '_' at the start and/or end of the label are not properly displayed in the PCoIP Management Console. Blank fields are shown instead of endpoint data. (32398)

Workaround: Avoid underscores at the start and end of endpoint labels.

View endpoint log takes some time to load

The Endpoint Log dialog accessed from the Endpoint Details page takes up to ten seconds to be populated with event log messages retrieved from the zero client. (29846)

Daily schedules may occur one additional time

Daily recurring schedules may occur one additional time after the End Date and Time set in the schedule. (27959)

Profile's HD Audio setting may fail if set differently to Local USB Audio Driver

PCoIP Management Console profiles that set Local USB Audio Driver to Enable must also set HD Audio to Enable. Otherwise, the profile will fail to apply to zero clients that have HD Audio disabled. (27823)

'Soft Power Off' does not apply to zero clients

The 'Soft Power-off only' and 'Soft and Hard Power-Off' options under the Remote Host Power Control profile should not be visible as they are not applicable to zero clients. Only the options 'Hard Power Off only' and 'Power-off not permitted' apply to zero clients. (27704)

Resolved Issues

Profile Mismatch column on the Endpoint's page shows True when a mismatch exists

Previously, the Endpoints page table incorrectly showed Profile Mismatch is True for some zero clients even though the Endpoint Details page did not show any mismatches. This issue is now resolved. (61140)

Profile successful applies when it contains certain Imprivata OneSign settings

Previously, when a profile contains either the Pre-Session Reader Beep setting or the Restrict Proximity Cards settings, which are visible when the profile's Session Connection Type is View Connection Server + Imprivata OneSign, the profile would always fail to apply. This issue is now fixed. (59363)

Firmware 4.8 can be imported into all versions of Management Console 2

All versions of PCoIP Management Console 2.x support importing Firmware 4.8 to enable users to rollback to PCoIP Management Console 1.x. (58464)

Broker Address Cache field in profile behaves correctly

Previously, the profile field Broker Address Cache had two unexpected behaviors:

  • When opening the profile that has the Broker cache list set the user must toggle the Session settings to Advanced and click the field's Set in Profile checkbox to see the saved values.
  • When entering a address that is not a valid URL such as foo or foo.bar.com there is no user feedback that this is an invalid value. These issues have been resolved. (57487)

Endpoint Details page shows Video Port Preferred Resolution mismatches correctly

Previously, the Endpoint Details page highlighted the four Video Port x Preferred Resolution values as not matching the profile when they did match. This issue is now resolved. (55517)

Profile mismatch no longer reported when Authorized Devices is set to 'Any'

Previously, the endpoint details page would report a device as having a profile mismatch if the profile settings for the profile applied to the device had Peripherals > Authorized Devices set to Any Device Class, Any Sub Class, or Any Protocol. This issue is now fixed. (54060)

Profile Peer, Connection Manager, Connection Server and Bootstrap fields behaved unexpectedly

Previously, the first profile field shown below the Session Connection Type does not always behave as expected. The field's name depends on the selected Session Connection Type:

  • Auto-Detect: Server URI
  • Direct to Host: DNS Name or IP Address
  • Direct to Host + SLP Discovery: Not Applicable
  • PCoIP Connection Manager: Server URI
  • PCoIP Connection Manager + Auto-Login: Server URI
  • View Connection Server: Server URI
  • View Connection Server + Auto-Login: Server URI
  • View Connection Server + Kiosk: Server URI
  • View Connection Server + Imprivata OneSign: Bootstrap URL

First, when opening a profile that was saved with this field not Set in Profile (the field is not checked) the field will appear checked with an empty value.

Second, when opening a profile that was saved with this field Set in Profile (the field is checked) the field's value will have focus. Trying to leave the page before making any changes to the profile causes the page to prompt the user to save their changes.

These issues have been resolved. (53083)

Certificate store showed mismatch when not set in the profile

Previously, when a profile without a configured certificate store was applied to a zero client, the PCoIP Management Console showed that zero client does not match the profile. The endpoints page showed a profile mismatch while the endpoint details page showed a certificate store mismatch. This issue has been resolved. (35075)
