Release Overview

Remote Workstation Card Firmware 5.1.0 is a firmware release for Remote Workstation Cards (not PCoIP Zero Clients).

This release is a feature release with functional changes and bug fixes over release 5.0.1. These release notes provide a summary of key feature additions, compatibility notes, resolved issues, and known issues for this release.

Note: only Workstation Access subscribers are eligible to receive this release.

What's New in This Release

Custom certificate support for direct connections to Remote Workstation Card

Custom peer-to-peer certificates can now be added and applied to the Peer-to-Peer Certificate field that allows for secure peer-to-peer connections between PCoIP Zero Clients and Remote Workstation Cards (firmware 5.1 or later) that is unique to your network.

Best security practice

Teradici highly recommends using this new feature to create a more secure environment. Contact your IT department to ensure your deployment is in accordance with your Company's security policy.

Important Notes and Requirement

  • Deployments without VMware brokering, but with CMI based brokering such as Leostream or custom solutions should continue to use the previous version of PCoIP Management Console 1.10.8 and PCoIP Remote Workstation card firmware 4.9

  • Remote Workstation Cards with firmware 5.x can only be managed by PCoIP Management Console 3.1 or higher.

  • If you are upgrading your Tera2 firmware from a 4.x release:

    • Use PCoIP Management Console 1.10.3 through 1.10.8 or the the Remote Workstation Cards's AWI to upgrade to firmware 5.0 or higher.

    • You must upgrade from firmware version 4.5.1

  • This download includes an .all file for use by the Administrative Web Interface (AWI) and a .pcoip file for use by PCoIP Management Console 3.1 and higher.

  • The .pcoip file contains zero client firmware 5.0.1 for Tera2 Remote Workstation Cards only.

This firmware release is supported when connected to PCoIP Zero Clients on firmware 6.2.0. Zero Client firmware 6.2 is now the minimum requirement in order to connect to Remote Workstation Cards on this firmware release.
Note: Other Zero Client firmware may be compatible with this release, but are not supported.

Management requires a compatible endpoint manager such as PCoIP Management Console release 3.1 or higher.
This firmware release is supported with the VMware broker and security gateway available in Horizon View 7.6 and 7.7. X
This release cannot be brokered in use with the Teradici Cloud Access Platform. This release cannot be brokered using the CMI brokering protocol.
Supported browsers are Firefox, Chrome, and Microsoft Edge. Versions of the browsers tested are those that were available prior to release. Internet Explorer 11 is no longer an officially supported web browser. Web browsers must support TLS 1.2 or higher to connect to the administrative web interface (AWI).

Known Issues

Frequent webpage reloading shows different content in Chrome 76283

When using Chrome, performing frequently or fast webpage reloading can result in portions of an AWI page that are not normally visible to become visible. This has not been observed on Firefox or Edge.

Internet Explorer 11 does not trust the Administrative Web Interface certificate 71084

Internet Explorer 11 does not trust the Administrative Web Interface certificate if the AWI is accessed via IP address (it will trust the certificate when using the FQDN).

Profile application to a Remote Workstation Card fails with profile parameter HD Audio set to disabled 70793

Profile application to a Remote Workstation Card from PCoIP Management Console will fail if HD Audio is set to disabled in the profile.
Workaround:
Disable audio on the zero client instead.
