H.264 Hardware Decode¶
The Anyware Software Client for Windows supports H.264 hardware decode for selected hardware configurations on supported hardware platforms. H.264 hardware decode results in lowered CPU requirements, and potentially, reduced power consumption.
The H.264 hardware decode feature has been tested with the following client machine configurations:
- Intel CPU with iGPU capable of H.264 Hardware Decode
- AMD Integrated Graphics Card capable of H.264 Hardware Decode
Other configurations might also work in combination with the High Performance Client mode.
The following NVIDIA graphics cards are supported:
- NVIDIA Quadro P400
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
Additionally, the Graphics Agent must have an NVIDIA Graphics Card that supports PCoIP Ultra GPU Offload, such that the PCoIP Ultra setting must be set to either GPU Offload or Auto Offload.
Additional graphics cards are expected to work, but have not been tested.
Instructions for Configuring Agents
Instructions for configuring PCoIP Ultra and PCoIP Image Quality on agent machines can be found in the Administrators' Guides for agents. Depending on your agent’s operating system, select the administrators’ guide, and then refer to the “PCoIP image quality levels” topic under the “Configuration Guide” section for instructions.
Disabling H.264 Hardware Decode¶
H.264 hardcore decode cannot be disabled from the client interface. This can only be done by modifying the enable_hw_h264
parameter in the Config file.
-
Open the user-scoped Config file available at the following location: %APPDATA%\Teradici\Teradici PCoIP Client.ini.
About the Parameter
In some cases, the
enable_hw_h264
parameter might not be present. If you are unable to find it in the Config file, add an entry to the file. -
Set
enable_hw_h264
to "0". -
Save your changes.
Note: Disabling Hardware Decoding
Disabling H.264 Hardware Decoding results in the following:
- Auto Offload and GPU Offload are disabled
- PCoIP Ultra does not default to "Auto Offload"
- PCoIP Ultra can either be disabled or set to "CPU Offload"
