User Account Considerations

The following types of accounts are supported for connecting to macOS agents:

• Local accounts
• Active Directory mobile accounts
• Active Directory network accounts

First time login of Active Directory accounts might become unresponsive if the Active Directory is NOT configured to either:

• Create a mobile account, or,
• Set up user accounts to have local home folders in the computer's or Users folder.

We recommend that you configure the Active Directory to create mobile accounts. Instructions for this can be found in the macOS User Guide.

While connecting using a PCoIP session, the Create Mobile Account Confirmation dialog is not available by design. Users will not prompted to confirm the creation of a mobile account, even if the Require confirmation before creating a mobile account option is selected.

!!! note “Note: Mobile Account Dialogs for Unlocking FileVault Do Not Appear” Since PCoIP sessions are not compatible with FileVault, setup dialogs linking mobile accounts to administrator accounts for the purpose of unlocking FileVault will not appear.

User Account Considerations¶

Create or use an existing user account for PCoIP connections. Make sure the account meets the following conditions:

• It is not the root user account

  The root user is an administrative account with elevated permissions, and is disabled by default in macOS.

• The user name does not contain spaces

Handling Multiple Users¶

macOS agents permit only a single user to log on to a remote machine at a time. If a user is already connected to a remote machine, connection attempts by subsequent users will fail. The first user will be temporarily disconnected, but will be able to resume connection to the remote machine. Other users will only be able to connect to the remote machine after the first user logs out or reboots the machine.

If multiple users share a remote machine, they must log out or reboot the remote machine from within their PCoIP session each time after they are done. This will allow other users to connect to the remote machine using PCoIP sessions. If a user only disconnects their PCoIP session, then the remote machine will be locked until the user logs out or reboots the machine.
