Getting Started

The topics in this section contain information to help you get up and running quickly.

Note: If you are migrating to PCoIP Management Console 2 from PCoIP Management Console 1, please see Migrating from PCoIP Management Console 1. If you are upgrading from PCoIP Management Console 2 to a newer version, see Upgrading PCoIP Management Console 2 to a New Version. Best Practices for Setting Up the PCoIP Management Console

The recommended order of tasks to perform when setting up your system is outlined below:

  1. Install the PCoIP Management Console on your ESXi host

  1. Change the default password for the PCoIP Management Console VM admin user and PCoIP Management Console VM root user (required)
  2. Configure the PCoIP Management Console with a fixed IP address (recommended), either through a DHCP reservation or by assigning a static IP address
  3. Activate the PCoIP Management Console’s license (PCoIP Management Console Enterprise Edition)

  1. Log in to the PCoIP Management Console web UI
  2. Change the default password for the PCoIP Management Console web UI admin user (required)
  3. Disable the PCoIP Management Console web UI admin user and create a new administrator account (recommended)
  4. Install your own PCoIP Management Console certificates
  5. Change the PCoIP Management Console web UI to your local time (optional)
  6. Upload an endpoint firmware file
  7. Create profiles for your endpoints or import profiles from PCoIP Management Console 1
  8. Create groups for your endpoints
  9. Create a naming convention for your endpoints (optional)
  10. Create auto configuration rules for your endpoints (optional)

  1. Upload PCoIP Management Console certificate to endpoints (required for medium and high security environments)
  2. Update endpoint firmware from 4.8.0 to the latest 5.0+ firmware version
  3. Configure desired security level and manager discovery options from the endpoint’s AWI Configuration > Management page

  1. Discover endpoints manually from the PCoIP Management Console (applies only to endpoints that are configured for low security and do not have a pre-loaded certificate)
  2. Create schedules
  3. Push out profiles to endpoints
  4. Create other PCoIP Management Console users (optional)
  5. Back up the PCoIP Management Console database
