Not all display protocols are created equal

Many protocols, like RDP 10 and Blast, are based on a lossy video encoder (codec) called H.264. Codecs like this are primarily used for consumer-grade video streaming. For passive streaming like this, H.264 does an excellent job. Its compression algorithm removes ‘unnecessary’ data from video content. However, data that is sometimes unnecessary for video is often crucial for reproducing accurate screen content.
