Teradici PCoIP Zero Client Reaches “Implementation Under Test” Phase of NIST’s FIPS 140-2 Government Validation
Burnaby, Canada – February 21, 2020 – Teradici, the creator of industry-leading PCoIP® technology and Cloud Access Software, announced today that its PCoIP Zero Client product has achieved the Implementation Under Test (IUT) status as part of the Federal Information Processing Standards Publications (FIPS) 140-2 validation process. This listing signifies that the PCoIP Zero Client has begun Laboratory Testing and will be eligible for sales in markets that require high standards for cryptographic security, such as the U.S. Federal Government, International Governments, Critical Infrastructure, Healthcare, Finance, and IoT.
Teradici PCoIP technology is deployed end-to-end in virtual and cloud environments, in zero clients, standalone workstations and mobile devices. PCoIP technology uses advanced display compression to provide end users with on-premises or cloud-based virtual machines as a convenient alternative to local computers. This virtual workspace architecture compresses, encrypts and transmits only pixels to a broad range of software clients, mobile clients, thin clients and stateless PCoIP Zero Clients, providing a highly secure enterprise environment. Teradici customers, which include Fortune 500 enterprises and institutions around the world, local and federal government agencies, and cloud and service providers, benefit from a broad PCoIP ecosystem of innovative products and services.
FIPS 140-2 is a joint effort by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the United States, and the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC), under the Canadian government. The Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP), headed by NIST, provides module and algorithm testing for FIPS 140-2, which applies to Federal agencies using validated cryptographic modules to protect sensitive government data in computer and telecommunication systems. FIPS 140-2 provides stringent third-party assurance of security claims on any product containing cryptography that may be purchased by a government agency.
FIPS, which is mandated by law in the U.S. and very strictly enforced in Canada, is also currently being reviewed by ISO to become an international standard. FIPS 140-2 is gaining worldwide recognition as an important benchmark for third party validations of encryption products of all kinds. A FIPS 140-2 validation of a product provides end users with a high degree of product security, assurance, and dependability.
“Teradici PCoIP technology has long been a trusted solution widely deployed across demanding government environments with varied classification levels. The technology enables individual users to work efficiently in high-performance situations from any endpoint device while protecting data by keeping it securely within the cloud or private data center,” said Ziad Lammam, vice president of product management for Teradici. “Taking this step toward FIPS 140-2 validation will enable us to provide our customers with an additional layer of confidence that with a Teradici PCoIP solution they are meeting their own security obligations in even the most challenging environments.”
In order to expedite the FIPS 140-2 validation process, Teradici has engaged Corsec Security, Inc., a consulting firm with over 20 years of validation experience.
